The Assam government has launched ‘Nijuktir Natun Diganta’, an employment programme targeting 2 lakh job opportunities over five years, overseen by a Chief Secretary-led Task Force.

Assam’s Judicial Minister Susanta Borgohain announced a proposal to create 11 new judges’ posts, aiming to address significant case pendency in the state’s courts. The government is open to further recruitment proposals from the Gauhati High Court.

The Government of Assam has enacted the Assam Shops And Establishment (Amendment) Act, 2026, revising employment conditions with new provisions for earned leave and overtime pay for workers in commercial establishments.
