The Assam Cabinet approved the constitution of the 8th Assam Pay Commission in February 2026 to review emoluments and service conditions for state government employees and pensioners.
Assam has become the first Indian state to form the 8th Pay Commission on January 1, 2026, aimed at revising salaries and pensions for approximately seven lakh government employees and pensioners. The commission, chaired by Subhas Das, has an 18-month deadline to submit its recommendations.
