The Assam Cabinet has approved a ₹2,000-crore rural employment mission offering 125 days of wage work from July 1, alongside a ban on fresh Aadhaar enrolment for adults to curb illegal immigration.
The Assam Higher Education Department has made Aadhaar numbers and Aadhaar-linked bank accounts mandatory for students to avail benefits under various government welfare schemes, including the Fee Waiver Scheme and Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina/Babu Aasoni. Universities and colleges are directed to ensure accurate Aadhaar details are uploaded and updated on the SAMARTH portal.
